Behind the Mad Scenes (Sold Out)
Friday, August 03, 2012 6–9 pm
Join us for a rare conversation with Madison music insiders from the grunge era in the 1980s and '90s, and stick around for a performance by the all-star group Tardozer-SFB. Enjoy refreshments from New Orleans Take-Out.
The event is being held in conjunction with the temporary exhibit, Smart Sounds, Alt Music, Mad Scenes, which delves into the grunge music scene in Madison during the 1980s and '90s. The panel of scene insiders will include: Dan Hobson of the band Killdozer; Lisa Marine, a music scene participant and a member of the band Noah John; Doug Olson, a former Smart Studios employee; "Harry Rag," a WORT radio DJ; Toni Ziemer, who formerly booked acts for Club de Wash; and Wendy Schneider, a former Smart Studios employee and director of "American Noise: The Smart Studios Story."
Members of Tardozer-SFB, who will be performing, and their former bands include: Dan Hobson of Killdozer; Bill and Ed Feeny of Appliances-SFB; and Bucky Pope of the Tar Babies.
$15 per person (Society members receive a 10-percent discount). If you didn't get tickets to this sold-out event, you can still see the Smart Sounds, Alt Music, Mad Scenes exhibit now through September 15.
